We are currently seeking a Senior Software Developer: Analyze, design, code, test and document software programs and applications designed to support business functions; Architect and implement business systems in a diverse environment; Adapt to differing programing languages to support the changing needs of the business
Essential functions of the job (in order of importance):
1. Research and fix software bugs in existing applications
2. Implement new / Modify existing functionality in existing applications within defined time lines
3. Assist with the assessment of the feasibility of and and provide documentation for proposed application enhancements
4. Learn business data structures, how they relate to each other, and how to utilize them fully within a project, including reading SQL (Sybase specifically) to understand existing applications/data structures and writing SQL for optimal performance
5. Learn the business processes supported by the applications
6. Accept being on call after normal working hours to support the business processes for assigned responsibilities
7. Work as a member of a team
8. Take responsibility for initiatives assigned by Project Managers and IT Management
9. Address support requests from the Help Desk
Requirements:
Education: B.S. in computer science or equivalent experience
Experiences (work or education): 5+ years experience programming with PICK BASIC (Unidata, Universe); Proven track record of completing medium to large projects on time, on budget, and to specifications
Characteristics: Trouble shooter and problem solver, resourceful, keen attention to detail, self-motivated, comfortable under pressure, passionate, excellent communication skills, focused with minimal guidance, willingness to broaden experience base
Skills Needed: Unidata/Universe/PICK programming experience; SQL experience a plus; Object Oriented development experience a plus
